Bridging Health and Heritage

Our Journey

Founded in 1994, our non-profit telemedicine center was established to fill the healthcare gap for the weavers of Sualkuchi, Assam, India.

Our goal has always been to address healthcare access issues faced by this culturally significant community, enabling them to maintain their silk weaving traditions while ensuring their well-being. This community's work, vital to Assam’s economy and cultural identity, often leads to health issues due to long hours at the loom. Recognizing these challenges, we initiated free telemedicine consultations to offer easy access to healthcare for weavers, many of whom face difficulty accessing traditional healthcare services.

Over the years, as our organization has grown, we’ve expanded our services across parts of Northeast India, including Arunachal Pradesh and Tripura. Alongside tele-consultations, we provide free medicines, supplements, follow-ups, and assistance for long-term health management and preventive care—ensuring that the communities remain healthy enough to continue their work and pass down their craft through generations.

Our Approach

Our approach is holistic, combining healthcare access with community empowerment. We provide all these services free of cost, creating an inclusive, supportive environment for sustainable healthcare. We also empower the local community by recruiting and training residents through our grassroots training program, equipping them to carry forward our mission in the telemedicine center. Our telemedicine model offers:

  • Remote Consultations: Access to medical professionals to address common ailments and chronic conditions.
  • Community Medicine Approach: Integrating traditional healing methods with modern medical science.
  • Chronic Disease Management: Ongoing care for chronic illnesses like cancer and tuberculosis.
  • Post-Treatment Rehabilitation and Palliative Care:: Comprehensive support for patients’ recovery and their families, ensuring continuity of care even after treatment.
  • Health Education: Preventive healthcare knowledge for the indigenous communities.

Through these integrated services, we aim to build healthier communities and provide sustained support to individuals at every stage of their healthcare journey.

Our Impact

Through our services, we have improved the lives of hundreds of weavers in Sualkuchi and other parts of Northeast India, contributing to the sustainability of indigenous practices, from Sualkuchi’s silk industry to tribal traditions in Roing, Arunachal Pradesh. Our work preserves these cultural and economic traditions essential to Northeast India.

Road Ahead

As we look to the future, we are committed to fostering a long-term impact across all of Northeast India, a region renowned as a biodiversity hotspot. Preserving the well-being of its indigenous communities not only strengthens cultural heritage but also plays a crucial role in addressing climate change. By improving health outcomes for those who have long lived in harmony with the region’s diverse ecosystems, our efforts contribute to the sustainable stewardship of these natural resources.

Our vision is to expand our services and incorporate cutting-edge technologies, such as AI-driven health tools, to make healthcare more accessible and sustainable across Northeast India. This work goes beyond immediate healthcare needs—it’s about building resilient communities that protect cultural and environmental balance. In doing so, we support both the health of the people and the vitality of their surrounding ecosystems, contributing to a future where cultural heritage and biodiversity coexist and flourish in the face of climate challenges.
